About the event
Sponsored by the Europa Institute at the University of Edinburgh, we are screening the wellbeing economies film ‘Purpose’. This is followed by a discussion moderated by Elke Heins (Social Policy).
Confirmed panellists include:
- Katherine Trebeck, co-founder of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll) and writer-at-large at the Edinburgh Futures Institute
- Aileen McLeod, former MEP and MSP, and current Director of WEAll
- Gary Gillespie, Chief Economist of the Scottish Government
The documentary chronicles the inspiring yet often frustrated attempt by two driven individuals to bring about change away from an obsession with economic growth towards a more sustainable wellbeing approach. With the social consequences of climate change and economic inequality becoming ever more pressing, this is a timely film that challenges us to rethink the way our economies work in a fundamental way.
