Our Homes, Our Economy is a project from the Wellbeing Economy Alliance Scotland (WEAll Scotland) exploring how the design of our economy shapes people’s experience of housing in Scotland.

Too often, the housing crisis is treated as a technical problem, addressed through piecemeal reforms or short-term policy fixes. This project starts from a different place. We believe the challenges people face,  from rising rents to insecurity and homelessness,  are not isolated issues, but symptoms of an economic system that prioritises growth and profit over collective wellbeing.

The project will create space for open, honest and empowering conversations about how economic decisions affect everyday life. Working alongside people on low incomes, as well as housing organisations and campaigners, we will explore how the current economy contributes to housing insecurity and what a shift towards a Wellbeing Economy could mean for safe, affordable homes.

Together, we will develop clear, shared language that connects housing reform to wider economic change. Through practical tools and accessible resources, Our Homes, Our Economy aims to help make economic system change part of Scotland’s mainstream housing conversation.
